Aquaman, the latest entry in the DCU (DC Universe), will be heading for a milestone soon. The film will surpass the $900 million mark before it’s run in theaters. Also, it could become the biggest Warner Bros./DC title since Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight Rises. The latter earned $1.09 billion back in 2012. No joke here.
The news came from THR (The Hollywood Reporter). According to the report, with last week’s earnings the aquatic adventure finished with a global total of $751.8 million. This guarantees that Aquaman will swim past it’s fellow Justice League members and will earn $900 million by the end of its run.
Two years ago Director Patty Jenkins teamed up with Gal Gadot to make Wonder Woman. The movie earned the adoration of fans and critics alike. The success of the film was evident since Wonder Woman went on to warn $821.8 million worldwide in 2016.
Aquaman, starring Jason Momoa in the titular role, has already surpassed the entire lifetime gross of fellow DC flicks. They are Man of Steel ($668 million), Justice League ($657.9 million) and Suicide Squad ($746.8 million).
Once Aquaman hits digital formats the film will soon overtake both Wonder Woman and Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice ($873.6 million). Domestically, the film led by Momoa has grossed $188.8 million in its first 10 days.
