BYE FELICIA: Microtransactions have been completely removed from Middle-earth: Shadow of War

Middle-earth: Shadow of War received a free update that, among other things, removed the ability for Gold to be purchased with real money.

Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment today released a free game improvement update for Middle-earth: Shadow of War, featuring a host of new enhancements and content to provide existing players and newcomers with the best gameplay experience.

This robust update brings together a multitude of different elements, including a richer campaign experience, streamlined post-game Epilogue, new player skins and Legendary gear and the removal of the market, in addition to hundreds of other improvements.

The core promise of the Nemesis System is the ability to build relationships with your personal allies and enemies in a dynamic open world.

While purchasing Orcs in the Market is more immediate and provides additional player options, we have come to realize that providing this choice risked undermining the heart of our game, the Nemesis System.

It allows you to miss out on the awesome player stories you would have otherwise created, and it compromises those same stories even if you don’t buy anything.

Simply being aware that they are available for purchase reduces the immersion in the world and takes away from the challenge of building your personal army and your fortresses.

In order to fully restore the core promise of the Nemesis System, we’ll be permanently removing Gold, War Chests and the Market from Shadow of War.

This means the option to purchase Gold with real-world money and the ability to gain Orc Followers from War Chests will be removed. There will be a specific amount of time given for players to utilize their unused Gold.

If players have unused Gold by the end of the time allotted to spend it, any remaining Gold will be converted to in-game items.

Below is a short list of the latest changes:

  • Removal of the Market: The market and microtransactions have been completely removed from Shadow of War. Orcs recruited through Online Vendettas and Ranked Conquests will now be stored in the Garrison, and in-game Mirian can now be used to train, upgrade and customize your personal Orc army.
  • Changes to the Shadow Wars: Renamed the Epilogue, the post-campaign has been vastly streamlined to include new narration from Shelob, the Witch-king, and Dark Talion. Victory in the Epilogue rewards players with the Masks of the Nazgûl, unlocks powerful new abilities to raise the dead, curse enemies and summons more powerful monsters. And players also have the option to continue upgrading and defending their fortresses and army in Mordor after the final credits conclude.
  • More Ways to Customize & Build Your Character: The follower level cap has now been increased to 80 and the enemy Captain level cap has been increased to 85. Plus, players can level up faster with greater XP rewards for Nemesis Missions, defeating Captains and Online Conquests. New Prestige Skills are available and offer incremental upgrades to skills. Players can also spend Mirian to upgrade gear to current levels by completing the upgrade challenge, and these gear upgrades now allow players to re-roll abilities for the perfect combo.
  • Nemesis Improvements: There are more Legendary Orcs to encounter, more ways to get Training Orders (incl. Legendary Training Orders) and followers can now surprise players with the occasional gift. And if any followers are too keen to help out and have been stealing kills, there is now the option to turn off the Savior feature in the menu.
  • New Player Skins: Players can now take the fight to Sauron as Celebrimbor, reliving the first War for Mordor, or battle as Dark Eltariel and Baranor.

Shadow of War is available for the Xbox One family of consoles, Windows 10 PC through the Windows 10 Store, Steam, PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 4 Pro.

Set between the events of The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings, Shadow of War is an open-world action RPG that continues the original narrative of Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor. Players will be engrossed in a richer, more personal and expansive world full of epic heroes and villains, iconic locations, original enemy types, more personalities and a new cast of characters with untold stories.

Posponen el lanzamiento de Spyro Reignited Trilogy

Activision estará lanzando el juego Spyro Reignited Trilogy un poco más tarde de los pautado. Esto se debe que la desarrolladora está comprometida en realizar de manera correcta esta serie de juegos de video.

El cabecilla de Toys for Bob Studio, Paul Yan, confirmó la noticia. La misma se hizo a través del blog de Activision, en donde se habló el porqué ahora ahora esta trilogía estará llegando el 13 de noviembre próximo.

La fecha original para el juego lo era el 21 de septiembre de 2018.

“Todo el mundo aquí en Toys for Bob está tan orgulloso de haber vuelto a encender la trilogía original de Spyro después de todos estos años. Estamos profundamente comprometidos con estos juegos. Así que decidimos cambiar la fecha de lanzamiento de Spyro Reignited Trilogy al 13 de noviembre., 2018. Realmente esperaba que estuvieran rescatando dragones y abrasando a Rhynocs antes. Pero la Trilogía necesita más amor y cuidado. En noviembre, cuando explores los Reinos del Dragón, Avalar y los Mundos Olvidados, sabemos que estarás de acuerdo con el tiempo extra valió la pena la espera”, acotó Yan.

Por otra parte, Activision también publicó su propia declaración sobre la demora. Dentro de ella subrayó la necesidad de un pulido adicional en los tres juegos. Esto para que la trilogía “no solo cumpla con las expectativas de los fanáticos. Sino que también lo haga con nuestros propios estándares increíblemente altos”.

“Los fanáticos de esta franquicia merecen el mejor juego posible, así que hemos decidido tomar un tiempo extra para pulir los tres juegos y entregar la colección definitiva de Spyro en nuestro nuevo día de lanzamiento, el 13 de noviembre de 2018”, mencionó la declaración de Activision.

La noticia llega poco después de la presentación de Spyro en San Diego Comic-Con. Con el anuncio se confirmó el regreso del compositor original Stewart Copeland (baterista de la banda The Police) para una nueva pieza de música Spyro.

Spyro debutó en la consola de Playstation 1 para el 1998.

The Walking Dead: The Final Season’s Online Story Builder Lets Fans redo past choices

The interactive, browser-based experience recaps Clementine’s journey and allows users to make choices along the way.

Leading publisher of digital entertainment Telltale Games and Robert Kirkman’s Skybound Entertainment today launched The Walking Dead: The Final Season Story Builder, an interactive, browser-based experience that allows you to relive the series’ most impactful story-branching moments.

Your choices in the Story Builder produce a unique version of Clementine that can later be imported into the game itself. These choices will then be reflected in The Final Season. The Story Builder is available now and can be accessed here.

Upon completing the Story Builder, you will be given the option to sign in to your Telltale Games Account and save your results to the cloud. By logging into this same account when playing The Final Season on PC, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, you will be able to download your Story Builder choices into the game. The Story Builder will also be available within The Final Season and will be localized in multiple languages for launch. Alternatively, you can import your existing series save files into the game. In addition to building a custom choice profile, those who complete the online Story Builder will also receive a downloadable poster that reflects their individual choices, with 32 total poster variations available. These posters were created by Telltale’s Todd Pound, while visuals for the Story Builder itself were crafted by noted comic book artist Dan Panosian and animator Daniel Kanemoto. Kanemoto also animated the very first The Walking Dead: A Telltale Games Series trailer in 2012.

Episode one of The Final Season will be available for download starting August 14, 2018 on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One across all regions. The Final Season will also come to Nintendo Switch later this year. A free playable demo is available now on Xbox One and PS4. In addition, the game is currently available for pre-order on PC, PS4, and Xbox One for $19.99. All players who pre-order The Final Season will receive download access to each of the season’s four episodes as they become available.

Players who pre-order on PS4 and Xbox One will also immediately receive The Walking Dead: The Telltale Series Collection – which gathers all 19 existing episodes of the award-winning series into a single package – as a free pre-order bonus. PC players who pre-order on Steam, GOG, GamersGate, or the Humble Store will receive 10% off the full retail price. All pre-order offers expire August 14.
