Red Dead Redemption 2 campaign mode playing time revealed

You could be spending the same amount of time playing Red Dead Redemption 2 as with GTA V.

Red Dead Redemption 2

One of the most anticipated video games of this year, Red Dead Redemption 2 (RDR2), could be a long one to play. According to Vulture, the game takes almost 60 hours to complete, that when it comes to the campaign mode.

Dan Houser from Rockstar Games revealed that the game was supposed to featured almost 65 hours of gameplay. But there was 5 hours of content that had to be cut for the final version.

Also, the games main protagonist, Arthur Morgan will have love interest while the game progresses. The content the was cut for the final version of the game included a second romantic plot. But in the end the lead writer of the game, Houser, explained that “we decided one of them didn’t work”.

Other missions were also subject to cuts. These included “a mission on a train where you had to fight with bounty hunters”. Thankfully, you can recreate that particular experience organically, as part of the daily random encounters in the world of RDR2.

While motion-capture for the single-player game’s story is complete, Rockstar is still shooting sections for Red Dead Online. The beta version for the latter is due to arrive in November.

The success of RDR2 is one that can’t be denied and will be extremely massive. All this given the track record of the saga and the success that the developer has found in this type of formula for a video game.

Rockstar’s latest entry, Grand Theft Auto V, earned $1 billion in its first three days and has sold nearly 100 million copies. In April of this year, GTAV — made from a approximate budget of $265 million — passed $6 billion in sales. Making the game the highest-grossing entertainment product in history. (Avatar, the highest-grossing movie ever, earned only a measly $2.8 billion in theaters.)

The release of Red Dead Redemption 2 is just around the corner. Can October 26th come any faster?
