Based on the seminal horror novel by Stephen King, Pet Sematary follows Dr. Louis Creed (Jason Clarke). He relocates with his wife Rachel (Amy Seimetz) and their two young children from Boston to rural Maine. They discover a mysterious burial ground hidden deep in the woods near the family’s new home. When tragedy strikes, Louis turns to his unusual neighbor, Jud Crandall (John Lithgow). This sets off a perilous chain reaction that unleashes an unfathomable evil with horrific consequences.
The first Pet Sematary landed on theaters back on 1989. The film was a commercial success earning $50+ millions at the office. Aside from not having great praise from the critics, it is widely considered as one of the most acceptable adaptions from the King collection.
A sequel followed and it starred Edward Furlong (Terminator 2). Although the sequel was not as nearly as scary as the 1989 version it did a lot better in the special effects department. Also, it attempted to resolve and express the bold mythological terms the anxieties of being 13 years of age.
The new Pet Sematary movie was directed by Dennis Widmyer and Kevin Kölsch. It stars Jason Clarke as Dr. Louis Creed, John Lithgow as Jud Crandall and Amy Seimetz as Rachel.
Pet Sematary is set to be released in theaters on April 19, 2019
